TB SoCal SKLZ takes home the Gold Medal at the 15U West Championships

Goodyear, AZ— SKLZ defeated the Placentia Mustangs 1-0 in a tightly contested ballgame to take home the Gold Medal at the 15U West Championship. After the Mustangs scored 16 runs in the semifinal to advance to the Gold Medal Game, Jesse Storey of SKLZ was able to hold the Silver Medalists to just 7 hits and no runs over 6 innings. Storey struck out only 3, but didn’t walk a batter and threw first pitch strikes to 15 of the 23 batters he faced. Joseph Jarneski came in to get the save as he pitched a 1-2-3, 7th inning.
Jarneski and Nick Donnelly led the way offensively for SKLZ, as they both had multi-hit efforts. Donnelly came up big in the bottom of the 6th inning with a 1 out RBI single to score Jarneski.

Bronze Medal Game
NorCal Baseball Black 12 Playa Vista Orioles I.E. East 8
Goodyear, AZ— The bats were out for the Bronze Medal Game as NorCal Baseball Black won the game 12-8 over Playa Vista Orioles I.E. East. The two teams combined for 28 hits and 20 runs over the 7 innings. Four players from NorCal had multi-hit efforts including James Bell and Aidan Frye who both had 2 hits and 2 RBI.
The Orioles built up a 4-0 lead by the 3rd inning before NorCal started their comeback. 10 runs in the 3rd and 4th innings would put the Bronze Medalist’s up for good even with a late push from the Orioles.
